Singer/songwriter Max Subar aims to remain bound to his midwestern roots with songs that radiate closeness and warmth. He grew up playing his mother’s old nylon guitar, finding inspiration in the music of Simon and Garfunkel and Nick Drake. Subar’s grounded relationship to songwriting has helped shed light on his own experiences and struggles with depression and anxiety. His debut EP ‘In a Dream’ released in April 2017, was described by The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as possessing a “pastoral glow and a Nick Drake softness.” Since the release he has garnered a local following in Chicago, playing to full rooms at staple venues including Schubas and SPACE. Max has also been recording with a full band at his home studio and will be releasing a stream of singles throughout the first quarter of 2018.
